TopicITMA's Annual Scholarship Award Ceremony

Our June Luncheon is traditionally the Annual Scholarship Award Luncheon and we are very pleased to announce John Vogt as speaker and presenter of the Awards.

John's Bio:

John is currently the President of WWBC LLC, an independent consulting company for Strategy and Global Leadership, and Visiting Assistant Professor in the College of Business MBA Program for the University of Houston –Downtown. Previously he was the Global Logistics Vice President for Halliburton, a major oil and gas services company. His breadth of knowledge of many industries from chemical, grocery, automotive, consumer products and apparel, plus extensive knowledge of Global Logistics around the world allows him to offer a full range of service from strategy to operations, and the full range from transport to international movement, systems and compliance.

He has been involved in many complex and interesting logistical challenges both in the USA and in the world, often in high risk and difficult to sustain supply locations. Be it Williston, North Dakota or Siberia or in Africa, where the infrastructure and communications are less than ideal, John enjoys the successful challenges that come with the global nature and extent of movement the industry is faced with. Long term developments and strategy, and vastly increased and improved standards of operation are his drive.

John began his career within the chemical manufacturing sector of Africa and Europe, running and designing major plants. He moved on to the management as the CEO of chemical import and export terminals. As a way to develop the business, he incorporated Logistics into and from the terminals as an added value. This led to the company undertaking land transport and large chemical ship charters in order to grow the terminals. From these actions he developed his love of Global Logistics and its need to link a source with a destination safely and effectively. He moved on to managing a portfolio of logistics operations including warehouses and port terminals globally for a range of products from grocery, chemicals, automotive CKD build kits, consumer electronics, apparel, paper and general cargo, sitting on the main board of a global forwarding company. He has patents in systems, and is a published author of both research and academic textbooks.

He has obtained a Ph.D. (Logistics), an MBA, and a B.Sc. (Engineering), holds the title of European Engineer (Eur. Ing), is a Chartered Engineer (UK) and has been elected as a Fellow of the Institute of Engineering and Technology (UK).
