The Art of Standing Out

The annual scholarship awards luncheon is undoubtedly ITMA's most important event of the year. It is the culmination of each year's fundraising efforts and honors

the best and brightest future logistics leaders from our Houston area schools. With the combination of the scholarship funds and the Mentor Program, ITMA adds real value to the foundation on which the students will start work in our industry.

Starting in January 2011, the oldest members of the Baby Boom generation began celebrating their 65th birthdays. From then and going up to 2030, 10,000 baby boomers will turn 65 every day of the year. This will dramatically change the composition of the country. By 2030, 18% of the nation will be 65 years old or older.  The talent gap – the issue we’ve been working to resolve as an industry for the last decade – has reached a critical point.

John Hark will speak to the students about traits and characteristics they must possess to stand out and be productive contributors to the logistics industry. Some of these are actionable solely by the students and some will require our help.  It is incumbent upon us to support the next generation in our industry – this is everyone’s responsibility. Ultimately, we can all benefit and learn from these concepts, even as an established professional in the logistics industry.

We look forward to seeing you on June 5th.
