Andy Pennell, CDGP - Regulatory Compliance & Training Director, DGM Services, Inc. (Houston)

About Andy
Andy began his career in the dangerous goods industry in 1997 by taking on a sales position with a large manufacturer of UN tested packaging, supplies, placards and labels. Constantly in the eye of the client, Andy observed their everyday operations and encountered great success in the area of developing custom designed UN tested packaging and packaging solutions to meet the ever-changing demands of the industry. For his efforts and sales growth, Andy was rewarded with quite a large territory; the region he maintained grew to cover the lower 17 states of the U.S. market share. Working closely with the package design team and regulatory advisory group, it was later discovered he had developed quite a talent for reading and comprehending the various dangerous goods transportation regulations. Andy joined the DGM Family in January 2003. Though initially hired on as a salesperson, he eventually moved into the operations department and in 2005 was promoted to the position of operations manager for DGM Services, Inc. in Houston, Texas a position he held until March 2010. During his time in operations, Andy worked very closely with holders of government contracts; assisting in the area of commercial and military movements of their dangerous goods tooling and supplies --projects such as Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Restore Iraq, and others. As the company continued to grow, Andy quickly found himself in a new role and position as the Regulatory & Compliance Director for DGM Services, Inc. The DGM organization (since 1987) is devoted to the classification, packing, documentation, training, consulting and any other services related to safety in production, storage, handling & transport of dangerous goods in any class and any mode of transport. Over the years Andy has worked closely with regulators, airlines, shippers, manufacturers, freight forwarders and carriers with assisting in the many areas of dangerous goods management.
