The Next Generation of Houston's Logistics Leaders
 
The annual scholarship awards luncheon is ITMA's most important event of the year. It is the culmination of each year's fundraising efforts and honors the best and brightest future logistics leaders from our area universities. Many students have come back to ITMA to let us know how instrumental the scholarship and mentor programs were to the successful completion of their studies. 
 
John Hark will speak about the three Ts that allow us as professionals to give back and assist these future members of our industry. There are many avenues in which to get involved and send the elevator back down. We all have something to give back. He will also address the scholarship winners directly with a discussion on the importance of their networks, how to best utilize their remaining time in school, and what they should be doing to proactively prepare for their entry into this great industry of ours.

About John
John has been in the Houston maritime industry for more than 25 years and graduated from Texas A&M University in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science in Maritime Administration. He started with FH Bertling in 2002 as Director of North America Vessel Operations. After moving to Bertling’s logistics division, he held various management roles within the North and South America regions. He has recently returned to Bertling’s ship owning & operating division as Director of Chartering for North America.

In addition to his position with Bertling, he has been an Adjunct Professor with Texas A&M University since 2002. Prior to joining Bertling, he was with Enron Industrial Markets as a Supply Chain Manager, was with Argosy Shipping/BBC Chartering & Logistic, and was Branch Manager for the international NVOCC Damco Maritime.

John is the current President of the Houston Maritime Arbitrators Association, chairs advisory councils for Lone Star College and Houston Community College, is a member of the Galveston College Advisory Committee, sits on the Board of the Port Houston Partners in Maritime Education program and is a past President and past Scholarship Director for ITMA.

Luncheon reservations will be billed unless cancelled at least 3 business days before the event.

No refunds are available for educational workshop reservations, but ITMA credits will be issued if cancelled at least 14 days prior to the event.
