TOPIC: Most are familiar with moving project break bulk cargo via steamship liner services, truck or rail but what about barge? Come join us for an overview on the brown water shipping industry. Learn about the risks and benefits of the different types of operations such as roll on and roll off, direct discharge from and to vessels from barges, advantages and disadvantages of using barge versus other modes of transportation.
SPEAKER: Mr. Rider Griswold, President (Argosy Transportation Group). Mr. Griswold has 24 years in the maritime and transportation industries, which has enabled him to provide the perspective and direction necessary to give clients the most up-to-date advantages in today’s challenging freight market. In 1996 Rider established Argosy Shipping (USA), LP, focusing on break-bulk, project and heavy-lift cargoes. In the following ten years, he led the North American development of what became the world’s largest break-bulk shipping company operating more than 135 modern vessels. In 2008, Rider returned his focus to Argosy, forming Argosy Transportation Group, Inc.
