Eloy Vazquez

Eloy Vazquez, Regional Manager for Avalon Risk Management, Inc., was elected as ITMA President in 2008. Prior to being elected President, Eloy served as Hospitality Director of ITMA, coordinating and hosting ITMA events. Eloy is also active in several other state-wide and national logistics organizations.

Eloy holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of St. Thomas. Eloy also holds a Business Administration degree in Marketing from the Bauer College of Business. While at the Bauer College of Business, Eloy was an esteemed member of the Program for Excellence in Selling.

Eloy is originally from Mexico City, Mexico, and speaks Spanish fluently.

Brenda Darwent

Chairman of the Board

Prior to being elected by the board to fill a vacancy in 2006, Brenda Darwent served as Hospitality Director of ITMA where her performance was, in a word, brilliant.

Brenda was born in Talara, Peru, but has lived most of her life in Texas and, of course, speaks Spanish & English fluently. When she moved to Houston in 1995, a friend told her about an open position at a local freight forwarder that had just been awarded a project in Chile. The job qualifications were perfect for Brenda.

Brenda has worked extensively in a variety of project forwarding assignments as well as in commercial sales. She is a Sales Representative with Emo Trans USA, Inc., and is responsible for supporting air and ocean freight export clients in the company’s Middle East market.

Peter Wurschy

Vice President

Extensive experience in the management of marine transportation services with liner & project carriers, ship agencies, terminal operators, port authorities as well as sailing aboard deep sea tankers in various deck officer capacities and subsequent shore side executive responsibilities of operating a deep sea tanker fleet on behalf of an International Oil Company. Born in Leipzig, Germany, naturalized U.S. Citizen, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy graduate, various MBA graduate course at Fordham, CDR U.S. Navy (retired), married with one daughter.

Sherry Berry

Membership Director

Sherry Berry, Account Executive for Staff Solve/Staff Logistics was elected as membership director in 2010. Sherry brings to the board over 15 years in customer relations experience, hands on business experience from having owned her own telecommunications company, extensive knowledge of the freight forwarding industry and strong business relationships in logistics throughout the community. Sherry is also an active member of other state-wide and national logistics organizations.

Sherry attended The University of Monticello at Arkansas and has been a resident of Houston for over 18 years.

John Hark

Scholarship Director

John Hark has been in the Houston maritime industry for 20 years; graduating from Texas A&M University in 1989 with a BS in Maritime Administration.  He started with Bertling Logistics in 2002 as the Americas Director over the company’s USA vessel operations and is now the Regional Director with responsibility over the group’s North America operations. In addition to his position with Bertling, he has also been an Adjunct Professor with Texas A&M University for 10 years.

Will Whitehouse

Will Whitehouse

Will Whitehouse joined the Port of Houston Authority as the Trade Development Manager for the Midwest and Canadian Regions in April 2010.  Will is also responsible for working with all partners in the Petrochemical Industry, in helping develop, maintain and grow business within the Houston Region.  Previously, Will had worked for a Gulf Coast Stevedore company, focusing primarily on day to day operations and sales management.

 

Originally from South of Atlanta, Will traveled to Kings Point, New York to earn his bachelor’s degree in Marine Transportation from the United States Merchant Marine Academy.  After leaving the Academy, Will began his maritime career in Miami, Florida. He has since worked in Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas.  He is currently working to obtain his Master’s in Supply Chain Management from Syracuse University.

Cliff Kuhfeldt

Cliff is a graduate of Sam Houston State University with a Bachelors of Business Administration Degree major in Marketing and minor in Management. Cliff started his career in the international field of transportation and logistics as a freight forwarder specializing in the movement of agricultural cargoes ranging from rice and cotton to heavy machinery. Cliff has over 8 years experience in the industry ranging from intermodal cartage, warehousing and distribution, global project management, operations management, as well as sales for a local NVOCC and an International Break Bulk Carrier. Cliff served as the project manager on the Philips Semi Conductor Plant move to mainland China in 2005.

Since entering the field of international transportation and logistics, Cliff has become very involved with various transportation organizations serving the Houston area. Cliff is also a member of The Louisiana Society of Texas and the Transportation Club of Houston. Cliff Kuhfeldt is a long term resident of Houston where he has lived for over 23 years.

Cheryl Fee

Cheryl has over thirty-five years’ experience in the logistics industry in Houston, beginning in 1975 with Fritz Companies (now UPS) where she began in the accounting department and ended as Ocean Export Manager, General Commodities Division. In 1980, she and other partners founded WTS of Houston, Inc. (dba WTS, a Global Logistics Company) where she was Executive Vice President and served in various capacities over the years including Operations, Finance & Accounting and Human Resources. WTS was acquired by Agility Holdings, Inc. in April 2007 and Cheryl continued working for them until December 2008.  In September 2010, she and two other of the former owners of WTS founded Proven Logistics Solutions LLC, a company that is dedicated to providing training to the logistics industry.  In addition to classroom and online offerings, they also provide custom-designed on-site training and consulting services.

In addition to serving as ITMA’s Treasurer and Board Member, she is a member of VICTORY (a branch of the American Cancer Society) where she serves as a member of the Executive Board and is Assistant Treasurer of the 2011 Cattle Baron’s Ball; member of the Board and an officer of the Awty International School Alumni Parents Association; Alumna Representative for her undergraduate college; and is a volunteer at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital.

Cheryl has Bachelor of Arts Degree from Wesleyan College, Macon, Georgia, and an MBA from the University of Houston.

Brooks Elliott

Prior to his current position as vice president of business development at Pinch and PGC Logistics he was area sales manager for Forward Air Inc. Brooks’ extensive knowledge of the regional transportation community and the relationships he has forged with oil and gas service companies, shippers, freight forwarders and other carriers has kept him moving forward in the fast paced era of global trade.
